We are certainly facing uncharted waters with the spread of the Coronavirus. Being forced to stay home, work remotely, and cook your own meals- blah! It’s certainly isolating not being able to socialize and do all of the super fun things we were doing a month ago. With so much changing, it’s about time we had something fun to do…safely of course. Want to play games, see your friends, and have fun? Download Houseparty to your phone now! Check it out.

About the App

Houseparty is a social networking app that is almost a blend of Snapchat and FaceTime. You create an account (it’s free) and then tell your friends! You add them all by username much like Snapchat and then you can video chat, play games, and so much more! The best part? The app is compatible with iOS, Android, macOS, and Chrome.

Games on Housparty include Trivia, Heads Up, Chips and Guac, and Quick Draw. With a big group or even with your own family inside the house, it’s so fun to play together, laugh together, and re-connect all without contact. We know kids are going crazy, you’re going crazy, you need a good laugh and this is a great way to dial in with those friends and family you’re social distancing from – it’s awesome!

What the Sources are Saying

“Houseparty had gotten a lot of attention among the under-24 set when it first started back in 2016. Its CEO, Sima Sistani, touted it as the “next best thing to hanging out in real life”. It had been installed by 35 million users (40% of whom were outside the US.) In subsequent years, however, downloads of the app had declined – that is, until the pandemic. Downloads in March 2020 were the highest of the year.” (The Guardian)

“As millions of people have been told to stay at home in an unprecedented bid to curb the spread of the virus, Houseparty has become an overnight sensation — not only among company-starved millennials and Generation Z teenagers — but also their parents.

Last week alone, the San Francisco-based app, which is owned by Fortnite developer Epic Games, raked in 2m downloads worldwide, compared with around 130,000 the same week a month ago, according to data from App Annie. It currently ranks at number one in the Apple app store in 17 countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.” (Financial Times)

There are so many more blogs, articles, and sites pumping out information on this viral app. What once started in 2016 and wasn’t incredibly successful is going insane now during this virus pandemic. If you find yourself bored, desperate for conversation or a laugh or two…Download Houseparty and enjoy tons of fun without contact!
