Consider taking a date night over to the Stageworks Theatre in downtown Tampa. Stageworks is Tampa’s longest-running professional theatre company since 1983! This is the perfect place for the enjoyment of plays and musicals but it is also a great space to rent out for an event! Stageworks’ season recently began on September 27th and lasts until June 2020. Wait Until Dark

Sept. 27-Oct. 13

Embark on a dark journey of murder, hidden identities, and more. Prepare for frights, thrills, and plot twists as you encounter Susan, a blind woman and her husband Sam in Greenwich Village. Follow along as Sam accidentally smuggles an unsettling doll into their home and find out who or what is causing mysterious murders and creepy con men to come their way.

Ordinary Days

Nov. 1-17

The second show of Stageworks’ 2019-2020 season is Ordinary Days. Enjoy this upbeat musical as you encounter the joys of the little things in life. If you love wit, charm, and fun shows, this is truly the perfect show for you! Open up your mind and heart as you learn how to change the lives of others through total anonymity. Travel to NYC and learn how 8.3 million stories come together to make a truly extraordinary tale.

Morningside

February 7-23

Experience a one of a kind play written by award-winning playwright Topher Payne! Take a journey to Atlanta to the bright and beautiful Morningside neighborhood. Here, experience the bonds of friendship and family as multiple generations of people live and breathe together in one neighborhood. Morningside develops into a store of femininity when nine women attend a baby shower and drink too much champagne. Stageworks describes this play as “The Women meets Steel Magnolias meets The Real Housewives”—wow!

12 Angry Men

Mar.10- Apr. 5

12 Angry Men is a timeless plan that follows a heart-pumping courtroom drama following the minds and the corporate lives of jurors, lawyers, and the accused. Pay attention to detail and try to figure out if the teen accused of murder is innocent or guilty…or if one of the jurors or other members of the trial is truly at fault.

Anna in the Tropics

May 1-17

Anna in the Tropics asks the thought-provoking question “how does literature affect our lives?” This play is a Pulitzer Prize Winner written by the acclaimed Tolstoy. Follow along as love, longing, and betrayal draw together the lives of 5 factory workers. Watch as their lives are forever changed due to passion, affairs, violence, and more.

The 15th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

June 15-21

Before you make any assumptions, no this is not a legitimate spelling bee! This is a hilarious musical comedy that follows the “high-stakes” world of middle-school spelling bees. Laugh along as you encounter the 6 over-achieving spellers and their hyper-obnoxious parents. This musical is a Tony Winner! Be sure to buy your tickets to see what all of the hype is about and be prepared to laugh!
