Murals

The city of St. Pete has a bevy of street art and murals in a number of neighborhoods. In addition to work that was commissioned by the city or private businesses, in 2015 the Shine Mural Festival was an annual event that brought artists from all over to St. Pete to create beautiful work the whole community could enjoy. This page has an updated list of all of the Shine murals with artist and location information. You’ll also find a few murals while biking along the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail, including the SHINE piece created by Oakland artist Hueman, located on 155 17th Street South. As far as I’m concerned, exploring the city’s many stunning murals via bike is the best way to spend a day!

Another awesome area to check out for mural pics is the 600 block of Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete. You’ll have to really explore and behind buildings and alleyways to find some of the gorgeous art that can serve as the backdrop of your next pic with bae. Not far from here you’ll find another favorite of ours: the You Are My Sunshine mural by Jeffrey Sincich and Josh Stover at 719 Central Ave.

Historic St. Pete Signs

St. Pete is more than a century old and as such is brimming with history. The city has categorized a variety of historically significant signs. Some of our favorite neon signs that make for fun photo backdrops include The Sandman Motel at 570 34th St. N, El Cap Restaurant at 3500 Fourth St. N. and the Palm Aire Otel at 3250 34th St. N.

St. Pete Pier

The new St. Pete Pier offers several great spots to snap a cute picture for your Instagram feed. After your photo session, choose from several dining options nearby or grab drinks at the rooftop tiki lounge, Pier Teaki. This 26-acre attraction extends in all directions so you’ll have plenty of space to stretch out and find a worthy backdrop for your Instagram-worthy couple selfies.

Station House

Formerly used as a fire station and train station, Station House now houses a co-working space, a Japanese restaurant, a coffee house, a lounge, and more. This historic building is beautiful and rustic, which provides a great backdrop for a casual night out (with plenty of photo opportunities) with the love of your life.

The Hyppo

One perk of living in Florida is being able to indulge in a cold sweet treat throughout the year thanks to the weather. The Hyppo in St. Petersburg provides another gorgeous piece of art for your next Instagram post. When you visit this location next time, make sure to snap a picture with your favorite gourmet ice pop in front of the fun mural painted on the wall inside.

Sunken Gardens

Who wouldn’t want to take a picture with flamingos or even of flamingos? Sunken Gardens, a botanical garden, provides a beautiful landscape as St. Pete’s oldest living museum. You can visit Sunken Gardens Monday through Saturday from 10 am – 4:30 pm and Sunday from 12 pm – 4 pm. You can take pictures and videos at Sunken Gardens but if you have any desire for a formal photo session or wedding, you’ll need to contact Sunken Gardens to arrange that for the future. As a bonus, they recently updated their sign to more closely resemble the original, adding another fun photo op.
