Mark your calendars for September 1st, 2019 because Tampa Bay Theatre Festival is back! Not to mention, this year, at the Studio Theater, (Re)Union will be performing! Remember, it’s only one night of the festival, so don’t miss your chance!

How (Re)Union Got Its Start

(Re)Union debuted earlier this year at the 2019 Tampa International Fringe Festival and came out with the Social Good Award! (Re)Union takes social issues seriously and goes so far as to incorporate these important issues into their show for awareness. To really put things into perspective, the original work is written and directed by Gabby Cabrera. Cabrera is an alumna of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. With her direction and personal attachments to a huge social issue, such as the mass shooting at Parkland, Gabby knows how to address these issues, she says: “This play allowed me to purge all of them out”.  Her willingness to face these issues so close to her heart, head-on, allows others to gain a better perspective into real issues that our society faces.

About the Show

If you couldn’t already tell, (Re)Union is a theatrical play in the ‘dark comedy’ genre with society reacting to both large and small tragedies. It surrounds a small town, under duress, about to bubble over from all of its issues. If you’re looking for your typical ‘coming-of-age’ story, look again—this play challenges everything you know about becoming an adult ten years after you graduate high school.

Prepare yourself for intense emotions after every devastating event plagues this small town. Follow the story as they try to find ways to move forward and improve upon their issues. Attendees will experience ‘old friends, crossed lovers, confusion, and companionship’. Perhaps along the way, you will find your true self along with the cast while also becoming more aware of what’s going on around us.
