For all those looking to take a day date trip from hip, downtown Tampa to beachy St. Petersburg or visa versa, you’re in luck. Don’t bother driving in frustrating traffic, as Tampa Bay’s Cross-Bay Ferry is back up and running. Grab your loved one and hop on this fun, fast, and efficient ferry for a beautiful trip across The Bay.
The Cross-Bay Ferry reopened on November 1 of this year and has been transporting happy couples safely across Tampa Bay ever since. In St. Pete, the ferry is docked right by the Vinoy Hotel on Beach Drive, a little north of the Museum of Fine Arts. There is much to do in downtown St. Pete and once arriving via ferry, couples will find themselves in the heart of it all. Beach Drive is home to a plethora of gourmet dining restaurants, cute coffee shops, swanky bars, and of course, the water. Once arriving in St. Pete, couples can choose to take a boat out, visit the beach on the other side of town, or simply take in the waves while sitting on the seawall.
If you are traveling to Tampa, The Cross-Bay Ferry also docks in an extremely centrally located place. It pulls up only a few blocks away from the iconic Tampa Riverwalk, Amalie Arena, the Tampa Bay History Center, and the Florida Aquarium. In addition, the ferry is positioned within walking distance of Tampa’s new Sparkman Wharf – a multi-purpose outdoor, waterfront entertainment facility which is filled with tasty restaurants, bars, and outdoor hangout space. In addition, Sparkman Wharf hosts a plethora of live events – including music shows. Definitely make it a point to check out this new hot-spot during your day trip to Tampa.
No matter how you decide to spend your time in St. Pete or Tampa, there is no better way to get there than with the Cross-Bay Ferry. However, it is important to check the schedule before heading down to the docking point, as the Cross-Bay Ferry does not run very often throughout the day. However, more times and dates will soon be added to the schedule as the ferry’s popularity increases.
