So, you’re sick of the mall scene, but you still want to go out on the weekend and do a little shopping. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. We all do it. But why not buy something different this time, something useful? Like a book. Tampa is full of awesome bookstores to check out and browse on the weekends and we’ve listed just a few.
Our Favorite Bookstores:
Oxford Exchange
Oxford Exchange has been known for their brunch and bookstore. While their store has expanded to household items, glasses, and skincare products, the bookstore will always be my favorite little nook. They have everything from classics to the newest best sellers. They even have events such as their monthly bookclub and visiting authors for readings and signings. Follow the Oxford Exchange Facebook Page for updates and events.
Inkwood Books
Inkwood is the cute independent bookstore of your dreams. The owner always cares about the people coming in and out of the store and does whatever to find the book you need or want. Inkwood Books also has readings and events to attend with local and non-local authors. Follow their facebook page for updates. They just moved locations from South Tampa to Tampa Heights, so if you’ve been to the old location, make sure to check out the new one! It’s even better, if that’s possible.
Mojo Books and Records
Mojo Books and Records is like a super laid back version of Oxford Exchange by USF because they have a whole bunch of stuff in one convienent place. They have used books and records throughout the store that will fit any literature and music lover’s needs, as well as a coffee and tea bar. You could spend ten minutes or two hours in Mojo looking through their amazing collection of books and music. They have so much it can seem a little overwhelming, but their staff is super nice and helpful to make sure you find what you’re looking for.
Old Tampa Book Company
Right in the heart of Downtown Tampa lives a little used bookstore with old and new books to find and love. After a slice at Eddie and Sam’s or a cup of cookie dough at Dough-Nation, stop by The Old Tampa Book Company to find a book to read at the beach or before bed. They have a little bit of everything, including the quaint used bookstore vibe you’ve always wanted.
