Let’s face it, money is tight these days. Luckily, the Tampa Bay area is home to many awesome date night/day spots that won’t break the budget! There are beautiful outdoor spots, restaurant specials, movie specials, museum specials, and trolley tours! All these dates under $10!
Honeymoon Island State Park
Take a trip over to Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin for a beautiful afternoon at one of Florida’s most beloved state parks. The park has more than four miles of beach to explore and enjoy including a three-mile trail through one of the last virgin slash pine forests. While at the park, look out for wildlife after a trip to the Rotary Centennial Nature Center. The park is open 365 days a year, opening at 8 a.m. until sundown, not to mention, it’s only $8 per vehicle to enter the park!
The Hangar Restaurant and Flight Lounge
Make your way to St. Pete for The Hangar Restaurant and Flight Lounge for awesome food and incredible live entertainment. The establishment is famous for its burgers especially on Wednesdays when they offer their $6 burger special. Located at an operating airport, this private restaurant located inside of a terminal on Tampa Bay is an unforgettable experience for locals and those visiting.
Tampa Theatre
Going to the movies costs a small fortune these days. Fortunately, the Tampa Theatre, right in the heart of Downtown Tampa is the perfect theatre to catch a flick and not break the bank. The theatre is a local landmark which opened its doors in 1926. These days, the theatre is managed by the not-for-profit Tampa Theatre Foundation. The theatre is home to more than 600 events per year including first-run and classic movies. Films shown as a part of their outdoor film series, parkCINEMA are free to the public, while regularly scheduled movies inside the theatre. Some regularly scheduled showings are also free, while other series range from $7-$10 dollars.
Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg
Museums can be pricey, especially the good ones. Luckily, the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Pete offers special ticket pricing on Thursdays after 5 p.m. for only $10! Enjoy low price tickets as you venture through countless exhibits of breathtaking arts and artifacts. The museum offers beautiful exhibitions that are constantly changing so be on the lookout for one that catches your eye, take a Thursday evening and enjoy!
Flicks and Food Trucks
Head over to The Grand Central at Kennedy every 3rd Thursday of the month for Flicks and Food Trucks. The event is free to attend and features gourmet Food Trucks as well as live music, cocktails, free two-hour parking and is dog-friendly. The event lasts from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. drawing a large crowd each and every time. The event is hosted and created by Tampa Bay Markets, Inc. a local company that takes pride in creating and operating open-air fresh markets as well as other local events for the Tampa Bay area to enjoy.
Studio Movie Grill
Another great movie option, with a delicious dine-in menu, is Studio Movie Grill! Located at University Mall, Studio Movie Grill is the perfect spot for dinner and a movie! Especially on Tuesday nights, with $5 Ticket Tuesdays. All you have to do is purchase your movie tickets online, arrive at least 20 minutes early, find your $5 selected seats, and then decide whether or not you want to splurge and order a full meal! It’s up to you! Finally, sit back, and enjoy the movie, knowing it only cost you $5.
Boyd Hill Nature Preserve
Take a day and head over to Boyd Hill Nature Preserve for a day outdoors! Boyd Hill Nature Preserve features a 245-acre award-winning park with 6 miles of trails and boardwalks. The preserve is home to unique ecosystems and is a part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. While visiting, take a guided tour or visit the bird of prey aviary. Pack a lunch and explore or take a load off and take a tram tour, offered multiple times daily. Admission into the preserve is $3 per adult, $1.50 for kids between 3-16, and free for those 2 and under! Pets are not allowed inside the preserve.
Tampa Museum of Art
Every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Tampa Museum of Art offers “Art on the House” with a pay-as-you-will admission! Guests are welcome to pay as much or as little as they desire before exploring the museum! Located on the Hillsborough River, right next to the Riverwalk, the Tampa Museum of Art features a stunning building full of delightful displays and pieces of art. The museum boasts one of the largest Greek and Roman antique collections in the southeastern U.S. as well as multiple rooms dedicated to the art of our time!
Ybor City Trolley: TECO Line Street Car System
If you’ve ever driven throughout Tampa, especially the Channelside/Ybor area and noticed the streetcars, notice no further! The streetcars are free to ride and take riders throughout Ybor, Channelside, and parts of downtown! Hop on, grab a seat, and relax as you take an awesome ride around this 2.7-mile route. The route, as well as the cars, are historical to Tampa Bay with the first streetcar lines dating back to 1892! Ride for as long or as short as you’d like and enjoy another exciting glimpse into Tampa Bay’s rich history!
