National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place every year from September 15 – October 15. It celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans.
Cities throughout the country take part by celebrating the achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans through special events and educational activities. Tampa is particularly rich in Hispanic history from its early origins and settlers in Ybor City and still to this day with its diverse neighborhoods, restaurants, etc.
From free events to live music performances, art exhibits, and more, here are all the ways you can celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in Tampa Bay.

Hispanic Heritage Night at Tampa Bay Sun FC vs. Brooklyn FC

Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with the new Tampa Bay Sun FC as they face off against the Brooklyn FC. This game will celebrate Hispanic Heritage.
The Market: National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The Market at Water Street Tampa is thrilled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of vibrant and engaging activities that highlight the rich cultural diversity of our community. This day will be filled with art, dance, history, and creativity. Watch live painters bring their canvases to life, experience the energy and passion of Tonos Latin Dance, explore Tampa’s rich Hispanic history with special highlights from exhibits from the Tampa History Center, get creative with a variety of arts and crafts activities inspired by Hispanic traditions, and more!

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Celebrate Hispanic culture at the Gladden Park Recreation Center with this free event. There will be free food for the first 300 in attendance along with music, games, vendors, and inflatables.

Hispanic Heritage Month 5K

Lace up for this Hispanic Heritage 5K run and walk! registration is free. Download your free race bib and join the celebration. Whether you’re celebrating your heritage or supporting your Latino friends and community, complete the run by October 15 and commemorate your achievement with a finisher’s medal. Hispanic Heritage Festival

Save the date and join this community celebration. EVERYONE is invited. There will be free parking and a $3 Donation for Admission per person. Enjoy a variety of music, live performances, food, arts and craft vendors, raffles, and activities. No tents, coolers, umbrellas or outside food/drinks. Chairs are allowed. Proceeds from this event are used to support education in our community and to support other local organizations servicing the needs of our community.
Viva Tampa Bay Hispanic Heritage Festival

Celebrate at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. This event showcases Tampa’s cultural heritage by celebrating the historical character and diversity of the city. This family-friendly cultural festival celebrates the beauty of Tampa Bay’s Hispanic communities. Enjoy delicious Latin foods, festivities, and local band performances along with cultural dance exhibitions. Tampa’s most influential Hispanic leaders will receive the prestigious ViVa Tampa Bay Heritage Community Heroes Award in the following categories: first responders, business, community, health, academics, athletic, humanitarians Gold Star families, and the Amigo and Amiga award.
36th Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration

The Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Committee is celebrating 36 years of educational and community service at the historic Tampa Theatre. This year’s guest speaker is Orestes Destrade who was born in Cuba and raised in Miami. Orestes Destrade played First Baseman/ Outfield/Designated Hitter for 15 pro seasons including the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Florida Marlins.
