There are several Memorial Day weekend events like music fests, farm events, and more –and even ways to recognize the true meaning of this holiday–ceremonies to honor our country’s fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Veterans are even being recognized with free admission to select Tampa area attractions.

Memorial Day Weekend Events in Tampa Bay
9TH ANNUAL SRQ VETS 5K MEMORIAL HIKE
Saturday, May 25, 8am
JD Hamel Park
SRQ VETS is hosting the 9th Annual Memorial Day 5K hike to honor the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. This event will work to unite the local veteran and civilian communities while raising funds to support SRQ VETS and their efforts to help the local veterans. The hike will start at JD Hamel War Memorial Park then over the Ringling Bridge, then back to the Park for an afternoon of fun that includes a cookout, music, and inflatables.

CLEARWATER MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

S. Madison Ave and Cleveland Street
The parade will take place on Cleveland Road from S. Madison Ave to N. Osceola Street. Get ready to enjoy marching bands, colorful floats, and community groups coming together to commemorate this special day. Don’t miss out on the chance to show your support and gratitude. The Clearwater Honor Fest is a day of honor, remembrance and community spirit. Hosted at Coachman Park by the Florida Veterans Coalition and the City of Clearwater. This event isn’t just a commemoration; it’s an immersive experience designed to uplift, inspire and unite.

The American Legion “U.S.S. Tampa” Post 5 Memorial Day ServiceÂ

The American Legion in Tampa is hosting its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the American Legion on Kennedy Blvd. This is the 100th year the ceremony has taken place here–first honored in 1922. Families are invited to honor the sacrifices of the brave men and women. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 am and you may bring your American flag to wave along Kennedy Blvd. Wreath registration will also be available.

To celebrate Memorial Day, military members can ride the pirate water taxi for free (2024 TBA), with the purchase of one full-priced ticket (Adult or Child).
Location: Departing from Tampa Convention Center Dock. Offer includes one (1) comp per transaction for any active duty, veteran, retired, or drilling reservist or National Guardsman. Must present a valid Military ID.
