Tampa Bay offers a large variety of markets throughout the year, but if you and your partner are looking for a market that offers plenty of fresh grocery options, check out Fresh Market at Wiregrass!

Fresh Market at Wiregrass: Know Before You Go

Every first and third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can find the Fresh Market at Wiregrass on Paseo Drive at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel. Admission is free, pets are welcome, and there is plenty of free parking around the Shops at Wiregrass. This market is one of the best ones in the area I have been to for grocery items with meat, eggs, produce, bread, cheese, and more! My partner and I were able to pick up almost all of our weekly store items and had way more fun doing it.

Vendor availability is subject to change, so be sure to check their websites and social media prior to going if you’re wanting something from a specific booth!

Fresh Groceries

Fresh Market at Wiregrass has a plentiful array of fresh grocery options. Something I have not seen at many other markets in the area are meat vendors, but this market has a couple of different options. Regeneration Family Farm, based out of Plant City, FL, sells pasture-raised, non-GMO chicken and eggs. Legacy Farm & Market, based out of Jasper, FL, has eggs, pastured chicken, grass-fed beef, pork, turkey, chicken broth, and more.

Both of these vendors have an order-ahead option which allows you to pick out what you want ahead of time and pick it up at the market, which is nice if you want a product guarantee, but they also bring a plethora of items for walk-up customers as well.

Our market go-to is always fresh produce. Greenleaf Produce has assorted fruits and vegetables, as well as jarred and pickled items. Greenleaf Produce is a sustainable farm based out of Englewood, FL, which makes buying from them easier knowing that the product is grown locally. Their strawberries are some of the sweetest I’ve had!

We also love to incorporate microgreens into our meals for the extra nutrients, and Really Good Farms has the most flavors of microgreens I have seen at a market. Their microgreens are premium organically grown, and while they have the typical microgreens like broccoli, sunflower, pea, and radish, they also have some other fun microgreens like clover, mustard, lemon, and basil and they are all so flavorful!

A few other items you will find at this market are honey, bread, butter, and nut butter. Bee Good Honey is raw, unfiltered honey from breeding Carnolian queens. I love this booth because they have a lot of different flavors to choose from. I can never make up my mind, so I get a handful of the honey sticks. Try the wildflower, chocolate, caramel, and watermelon! They also have seasonal infused honey like pumpkin spice and apple cider.

Gulf Coast Sourdough has $5 loaves of sourdough bread and their partner Precious Treasures sells compound butters (fresh sweet butters, fresh savory butters, fresh spicy butters) to go with it.

The Nutty Snack Shack freshly grinds their own nut butters and have so many choices, including all-natural peanut butter, cookie lover peanut butter, spicy peanut butter, pumpkin pie peanut butter, pistachio butter, pecan butter, walnut butter, almond butter, and more! My partner loves peanut butter so always pick up a couple of different kinds.

Hot Foods and Homemade Desserts

I never eat before the market because there are so many great places to grab something. Our first stop is usually My Hotbuns, gourmet sticky buns made from scratch by Chef Ab, and man are they delicious! Sticking with sweet breakfast foods, Craving Donuts has handcrafted donuts with flavors including original, fruity crunch, chocolate raspberry, and big guava.

There is also Juju Taiyaki, selling Taiyaji, a popular street food in Japan, it’s a fish-shaped cake with options of sweet or savory filling. If you’re looking for savory options, Kielbasa Bus has authentic Polish cuisine, Just Lumpia has Filipino egg rolls, Charm City Eats has authentic Maryland cuisine like crab mac & cheese and Chesapeake Jambalaya, and MozzArepas sells various types of arepas, a sweet tender cornbread grilled to perfection and filled with fresh mozzarella cheese and other things.

Don’t forget dessert! Two of our favorite booths are Cow Paddy Irish Fudge and Not Your Mommas Cookies. Cow Paddy Irish Fudge is “udderly delicious” fudge cooked the old-fashioned way. They have vegan options and flavors like peanut butter, chocolate, dark chocolate, and orange. We get the peanut butter fudge every time!

Not your Mommas Cookies are gourmet cookies that will have your mouth watering for more. Some of my favorites are red velvet, strawberry supreme, cookies and cream, and fruity pebbles.

Local Goods

While Fresh Market at Wiregrass has mostly food items, there are some notable local goods. Hippie’s Homemade Candles uses natural oils, cotton wicks, soy wax, and they are clean burning. Some of our favorite scents are Flower Child, Mother Earth, Man Cave, Spiced Cider, and Free Spirit.

Makers Marigold is a cute little booth that sells handmade and customizable mugs, tumblers, wine glasses, ornaments, hats, t-shirts, sweaters, dog tags, pillows, and more.

Knit the Duck is a small family-owned business with handmade crochet flowers that are so cute and you can put together to make your own unique, and lasting, bouquet.

While we are not the greatest plant parents, we always enjoy looking at the plant booths. Kait Plants Plants is a local landscape/hardscape company that has a variety of potted plants and fruiting trees. They have super cute pots, and we ended up getting a little scull pot that was perfect for spooky season.

Trish's Tabebuia Seeds LLC & BS Tabebuia Trees sells larger plants and fruit trees, including lemon trees, pink lemon trees, lime trees, Olympia figs, and Chinese Lantern trees. According to the vendor, the are actually pretty easy to manage and maintain, even in an apartment setting.

There are many other fun things to do in this area so if you aren’t usually out this way you might want to bring a cooler for your market items and take advantage of some of the activities! You can shop at The Shops at Wiregrass where the market is, or drive a little bit down the road to the Tampa Premium Outlets. PopStroke, across from the Tampa Premium Outlets, is a mini golf venue that also offers a full restaurant and bar capability for a fun afternoon!
